2013 EGCOA Awards Announced

The EGCOA announced its annual awards at the 2013 European Golf Business Conference held recently in Lisbon Portugal. The EGCOA annually awards inspirational figures and organisations for their significant contribution to the growth and development of the golf industry both in Europe and worldwide.

2013 EGCOA Award – Grow the Game of Golf

The Grow the Game of Golf project received the 2013 EGCOA Award for their outstanding achievement in facilitating the development and growth of European golf.

The project was launched in 2010 by an influential group of European golf bodies including the EGCOA, European Tour, CMAE, FEGGA, PGA’s of Europe, EIGCA, EGIA and GEO with the aim of encouraging and inspiring golf clubs and other golf organisations to help develop the game, particularly at grass roots level.

Through the leading group’s knowledge and expertise hundreds of growth initiatives and development programmes have been gathered together and showcased on growthegameofgolf.org. The site is now a leading online knowledge resource for golf course owners and managers.

Accepting the award on behalf of the Grow the Game of Golf Project was Jerry Kilby CEO of the Club Managers Association & Peter Fjallman, President European Institute of Golf Course Architects.

2013 EGCOA Supplier Award – Syngenta

Syngenta received the 2013 EGCOA Supplier Award for their industry leading approach to the business of golf. Not stopping just in the laboratory & on the course, they continue to conduct and share with golf course owners consumer market research along with developing sustainable programmes. Accepting the award on behalf of Syngenta was Rod Burke, Market Manager, Turf and Landscape.

2013 EGCOA Media Award – Golf Course Architecture

Since the start of the EGCOA in 2004 the support of the media has played as key role in helping the association share their message throughout Europe and around the world.

This year the honours for the 2013 EGCOA media award went to Golf Course Architecture who throughout the years have provided an unparalleled insight into global golf development, design & architecture. Travelling the globe in search of emerging industry trends they are truly a leading publication. Accepting the award on behalf of GCA was Adam Lawrence Editor, Golf Course Architecture.
